“I don’t want to quit before I see it through.”

(Oct. 8, 2008) – So, you have to wonder, what’s changed in the past two years for Terry Donnelly and the Farmington School Board?
Terry Donnelly is the current Farmington school board member who is now running for the Farmington City Council. He’d have to quit the board in mid-term if he won a council seat.
A friend forwarded to me this link to a Thisweek newspaper article (Terry Donnelly runs for second term on school board) published right after the filing period for the 2006 school board election. Donnelly had just filed to run for reelection and the newspaper quoted him on his reasons for seeking reelection.
“I don’t want to quit before I see it through,” Donnelly said. “It is kind of an exciting time and we are making a lot of progress and I want to see it through.”
Now, two years into to his four year “see it through” term on the school board, Donnelly is no longer interested in seeing it through.
Why? Has he seen though everything through that needed seeing through? Is the excitement gone? Does he think the city needs his leadership skills more than the school district, now?
Terry says he’s a quiet guy. He’s mentioned that more than once during his campaign for city council this fall. But, maybe he’ll open up and tell us why he no longer wants to see it through on the school board anymore? It might help voters decide where he’d be more valuable.
